With full and grateful hearts, David and I are announcing that The Good News Bread Company has come to a resting point. 🙏🏻

This journey began as David’s Sourdough Adventure in early Spring 2022 in Vancouver, Washington and it evolved into so much more than we anticipated it would ever become following our move to Tennessee. An organic interest became a desire that fueled a passion, which turned into an experimental hobby and grew into a cottage bakery with a storefront! All this growth occurred while David continued to maintain his full time career! Fulfilling midweek online preorders and operating a storefront with freshly made sourdough breads and pastries was exhilarating. Prepping and baking larger quantities for shoppe days and working 40 hours a week, or more at times, in the medical field was exhausting.

We, along with our three teenagers, have witnessed and experienced the goodness of God throughout this journey. ✨He’s protected us and provided for us every step of the way. Delivering our breads and pastries to sweet families in our early days immersed us further into our new community. We’ve had the joy of meeting numerous people from all walks of life simply by opening our front door and inviting the community to come be a part of our journey. And you have made room for us in your lives too! 🥹 You’ve allowed us the privilege to pray for you; you’ve shared The Good News with neighbors and friends you care about; you’ve made special stops in our shoppe to celebrate birthdays and pivotal milestones; you’ve brought comfort food to loved ones enduring grief; or included our pastries as part of your fellowship on Shabbat. Even expressing your interest to learn the craft of sourdough and engaging with David over some “Nerd Talk” (as we jokingly call it 🤣) in the shoppe makes us smile big as we look back. 💓 Come to think of it, a list of all the ways you’ve enriched our lives and how you’ve chosen to share The Good News is much longer than a social media post can handle! Perhaps one day, we’ll get to write a book about it and all of the neat connections that blossomed as a result of this faith filled adventure.🫶🏻

In closing, “Good-bye” doesn’t quite fit the ending of this chapter. “See you around” feels more appropriate. 🥰 As long as the Lord keeps David in good health, David won’t stop creating. His breads and pastries will continue to show up on tables. How they will get there will just look a little different.
